Glendale, Arizona is located about nine miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. William John Murphy, a native of New York, developed the city, which was all desert in the late 1800's, when he agreed to be in charge of building a 40-mile long Arizona Canal that would bring water to the desert. Although slow to develop in the beginning, the growth of Glendale has been steadfast over the years.






























Living in Glendale, AZ, you will never lack for activities or attractions from shopping to sporting events. There is something to do for all ages right outside your door. Glendale is considered Arizona's Antique Capital. The historic area of downtown is home to 13 separate antique shops all within walking distance of each other. You will also find numerous restaurants scattered amongst the shops!












Glendale loves to celebrate. In February, they hold their annual Glendale Chocolate Festival (and who does not love chocolate!) Thru out the year, various music festivals are held including Folk and Jazz & Blues all with local artists. The biggest yearly festival is the Glendale Glitters held every December. Downtown is decorated with over one million lights; you will also find handcrafted holiday gifts, and delectable food to eat. Great family fun!















If you are a sports enthusiast,look no further. The University of Phoenix Stadium, which has hosted two Super Bowls, is located in Glendale and is home to the Arizona Cardinals. Not only is pro-football played in this stadium, the stadium is also used for college football and other events as well. Adjacent to the stadium is the Gila River Arena, which is home to the Arizona Coyotes hockey team. If you prefer baseball, you can always catch the Los Angeles Dodgers or the Chicago White Sox's at a spring training game.















Many parks can be found scattered around Glendale as well as a couple of golf courses. Several of the parks offer horseback riding, dog parks (which segregate small dogs from large), and parks and recreation classes. No matter what you enjoy, you will find a class for it! At Foothills Park, you will even find an Aquatic Center where you can swim laps or work out.
